Covid-19 Risk for 7,5 million People Living With HIV in South Africa – Duplicate – [#309]
Goal 3 of the South Africa’s National Strategic Plan for HIV, TB and STIs 2017
Using human rights methods, SMYN strives to make the world a place where HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis do not exist.
Show Me Your Number (SMYN) seeks to reduce new HIV and TB infections, eradicate stigma and discrimination and contribute towards social cohesion by using the platform of sport, arts & culture as a vehicle to raise awareness through training, community engagement and edutainment. SMYN also uses the power of sports, arts and culture for demand creation for HIV and TB counselling, testing and prevention. SMYN was formally established in 2010 as a registered NPO and NPC, prior to which, it was a project of the South African Players Football Union (SAFPU).
SMYN exists to eradicate HIV and TB infections by using sports, arts and culture as a vehicle for advocacy and raising awareness driven by respect for human rights for all.
There’s an old African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together” and how everyone rallied and showed support for Show Me Your Number (SMYN) is testament to the solidarity that exists within the organization.
Thank you for your continuous support and congratulations to all winners at the Emerge Africa Awards 2022, here is to many more!
